Is It Easy To Do Business With You?

It might sound a little rude but yes I’m asking you this question. I’ve been reading stories about the good businesses around the globe and also been observing the behavior of local businesses. I know the purpose of a business is to earn profit at the end of the day but sometimes its inevitable to think of human side of the business. And no business is one man show, business people are always looking out for people-clients, employees, partners and sometimes even competitors.

Sadly, most of the local businessmen here are just after making money and exploiting others. They don’t understand the true spirit of running a business. And this may be or could be on the reasons we do not have  a multinational organization in Pakistan to the date.

You have to show that you care not just for money but for people. You know well that you are gonna need them to work but the important question here is why the heck would someone like to work with you/for you and not Tom? The answer is because you make it easy for them to do business with you. You are in good books of your employees, customers and your partners. Running a good business requires an attitude of giving and working to increase the size of cake instead of our own slice. Think win-win!

Passion and Perfect Intentions

My post about taking the first step was visited by quite a few people which came to me as a happy surprise because I wasn’t really expecting that. So first, thanks to all of those friends and strangers (well I do believe strangers are the friends we don’t know yet :)) who stopped by my blog.

Secondly, a few of my friends asked me these questions, “What after you have some how managed to take the first step? What ensures that you’ll fulfill your dream? Or what did you actually mean by holding on? I believe these questions were very genuine so I decided to write a post to address them.

My answer to those questions is a blend of Passion and Perfect Intentions. It might sound obvious to you. But before you roll your eyes and exclaim that I stated the obvious, ask yourself, “Do I have passion for or intention of what i am doing right now?” May be you don’t have either one of them. And even if one of them is missing, you are wasting your energies and I’m sorry if that sounds a little harsh, chances are you will end up as a dissatisfied person. And you definitely don’t want that :)

And this I’m not just saying about our business or professional career but all the spheres of our lives. Yes, passion is really important. Because without it, it is hard to stay motivated. You need passion to drive you to work harder and harder to learn something. You need passion for what you do to give you the strength to tough out the hard days at work.  In other words, passion or being passionate is the fire inside us and in our lives that drives us forward-whether it’s for our work, our hobbies, or for our relationships. And i believe without intentions passion goes wasted. Our actions depends on our intentions. And for that matter, let me ask you a question, If person A does something very selfish to person B but the person B accidentally benefits greatly from that, would that count to the good deeds of A? Obviously not!! You cant do a good deed by accident, its still a selfish act, intention is everything.

I’m Posting every day in 2011!

I’ve decided I want to blog more. Rather than just thinking about doing it, I’m starting right now.  I will be posting on this blog once a day for all of 2011.

I know it won’t be easy, but it might be fun, inspiring, awesome and wonderful. Therefore I’m promising to make use of The DailyPost, and the community of other bloggers with similar goals, to help me along the way, including asking for help when I need it and encouraging others when I can.

If you already read my blog, I hope you’ll encourage me with comments, likes and good will along the way.

Take a step toward your dreams

“A journey of a thousand Miles, Begins with the First Step” -Quote

Lately, i have been thinking a lot about the idea of success. What makes a person successful? What differentiates successful people from ordinary ones? Is there a set of rules to be followed to achieve success? Meditating on this questions really makes your head spin.

Everyone desires success (obviously means different things to different people) yet there are so few who actually put in effort.  And some of the people who are willing put in effort are just too hesitant to begin.  I have been a hesitant person all my life. It took me a long while to realize how much power and energy i was wasting. All i needed to do was to take an initiative.

It, no doubt, is absolutely wonderful what you can achieve when you assume the complete responsibility of your life and start following your dreams. And the most important word in the previous sentence is “start”. Yes, you will have to take the first step. Because it is usually the hardest and certainly the most important one. Believe in your dreams, take an initiative and hold onto that. Because the only thing between you and your dreams(success)  is the very initiative you are not taking. If you want to change your life, you will have to take the first step. I am not saying the rest would be smooth and easy but you cant really think of rest without taking the first step.

Take the first step toward your dreams, for only then you begin to accomplish them. :)

Are you taking initiative?

Lets all be good “Employers”

A few days back, in my Business Law class, my teacher shared a story about the start of her professional career as a teacher. It wasn’t something very inspirational or motivating but more like a warning. Well, she told us how her ’employers’ manipulated the fact that she was new to that profession. And she told us that we ‘will’ be taken advantage of at the beginning just because we will be new to the market. That sounds really cruel and unfair.

My question is, why cant we be sincere in our acts and play clean? Why just Rs. 5000 or even less makes us compromise on principles?

I do not believe a good entrepreneur would ever be unjust in his actions and be manipulative. So if you are a good entrepreneur that means you are a good employer and you make your employees feel good about working for you.

Hello World!!

“One person can make a difference.”

They say that 10,000 new blogs are created each day and the number is increasing. Here i am, one among those ten thousand, hoping to make a difference with my blog.

The main purpose of this blog is to write about ideas that are not just important but ignored in today’s business world especially in Pakistan. But i’ll be writing about pretty much everything related to life.  Because bringing humanity into business is my ambition.

If you are here for the first time (of course you are), say hello.
